Review:
I read Suzanne Enoch's Lessons in Love series years ago and forgot how much I enjoyed the characters.
Evelyn
Ruddick and her friends have devised a plan to reform on how to reform a
rake. But being her brother's political pawn, she never thought she
have the opportunity to put her plan into action. Goodness knows she
can't do anything that would upset his political career. Evelyn's
character is super sweet, she had great heart, and all wants to help
those less fortunate than herself. Riding by the Heart of Hope
Orphanage, she decides to dedicate her time to teaching the children -
secretly, of course, since her brother would have a heart attack. Never
did she suspect the owner of the orphanage would be London's worst
scoundrel, "Saint" the Marquis of St. Aubyn.
Saint has no
desire to deal with the orphanage, in fact, he's made arrangements to
sell the property to the crown and to relocate the children. But when
the "proper chit" Evie approaches him about working with the kids, he
can't help but seize the opportunity to get her in his bed.
I
loved the main characters. They were wonderful together and balanced
each other out. The romance and sexual tension was slow building and
steamy. What kept me from giving this book a perfect 5 of 5 was a
particular kidnapping situation - hard eye roll - it was just too much.
Overall, great story and I've now got a huge crush on Saint.
