Review
Monica McCarty is hands down one of my favorite historical authors. She writes with such care and detail and her characters are wonderful.
Jamie Campbell is a man driven my loyalty and duty. He always does what's right, not what's easy. He never expect a woman would test him.
Caitrina has lived a charmed, sheltered life and Jamie is drawn to her naivete and reckless spirit. But life hits her hard and she learns what the real world is like the night her family is slain and her home destroyed.
Jamie want to protect Caitrina and make her happy. By marrying her can help her regain her family's land and rebuild their castle. The trouble is, she and her clansmen don't trust the Campbells - the Clan that destroyed their lives - Jamie's clan.
Loyalties are challenged and their love is strained, but they fight to keep each other and that is what made this book great! But what kept me from give it a full 5 stars was Caitrina. She was confused for way too long - annoying - and the ending left rushed.
Can't wait to pick up the next in the Campbell Trilogy!
