"They now stood an embrace apart. Victoria clutched the book even tighter, her knuckles turning white. She began to chew on her bottom lip nervously and grimaced as a bead of blood welled.

     Dorian gazed at the tempting, crimson droplet that colored her luscious lips. He immediately closed the space between them and slowly slid his hand over the delicate flesh of her throat and cupped the back of her neck. He could hear her pulse jump and her breath quicken. He could smell her arousal and, when he looked into her eyes, he was lost in pools of emerald desire. She wanted him to kiss her. She needed him to kiss her.

      He slipped his arm about her waist pulling her against him. His hand resting on her hip its heat burning through the thin material of her gown. He bent his head, his eyes the darkest of blue. He kissed the corner of her mouth and swept his tongue gently over the tiny bead of blood. He had never tasted anything so sweet.

    Victoria closed her eyes savoring the pleasure of his light caress and when his lips pressed fully to hers she surrendered completely. The loud thud of the book hitting the floor met deaf ears."

Review: 
The Darkest Secret is book 7 within the Lords of the Underworld series. Amun, the keeper of secrets, is our leading man. The heroine, Haidee, is a hunter intent on freeing the world of demons. Their romance kicks off a bit rocky. Haidee has been captured and is being held in the Lord's dungeon, since she is the woman who killed their friend long ago. And, after some back and forth, they end up skipping off to Hell together for a mission. It is  during this time, while working together, that they get to know each other and catch feelings.

Review: 

I had been waiting for Gideon's story! I was so interested to see how Ms. Showalter would format the dialogue - Gideon is the keeper of lies, therefore he can only speak lies. It must have been tricky write and she did it perfectly.

Gideon has the average punk rocker look, complete with tattoos, piercings, blue hair (Love it!) and the attitude.He is drawn to the woman that has recently been imprisoned in his dungeon, but doesn't know why. He struggles to remember how he knows her, but can sense in his heart that their paths had crossed before.

Scarlett is a very strong female lead, characters like her always make me happy. She has been searching for the man she believes had abandoned her. Scarlett is the keeper of nightmares and she doesn't have any qualms about using her curse.

This book was loaded with twists and turns. One of which I didn't seem coming and I'm rarely surprised. The romance was strong, but what kept me from giving this book 5 stars was the sub-plots. As with so many series lately, there is just so much going on in the overall arc that the romance and the main characters sometimes get pushed to the side. I would have liked to have more detail and development between Gideon and Scarlet.

Another enjoyable read. The Lords of the Underworld are some of the favorite bad boys.

Fraya bit even harder into her bottom lip as she gazed at his out stretched hand. Why was he being nice? And caring? She didn’t like it. She couldn’t like it. The mysterious vampire wasn’t to be trusted.

Book Junky Girls: Review of Surrender to the Chase 

(Under Realm Assassins #2)

Fraya is determined to escape the arranged marriage her father has set up for her, but she never expected the man sent to take her back. Except he isn't a man she her wolf wants him no matter what he is.
Ethan will do his job even if it is one he doesn't really care to do, until he starts to get to know his target and then he realizes there was more to this mission than met the eye.
Fraya is a strong woman willing to do whatever was necessary to survive. She also just wants a place to be free without others dictating her life.
Ethan is a hard man to read, but you see that realizing there is something he wants more than doing his job is new to him and I enjoyed seeing the emotions run through him throughout this one.
The story was fast paced and shorter than I would have liked, but what was there was very enjoyable. The world created was interesting, but there was not allot of information about it and that made it a bit harder to get into.
Overall this was a good short novella.
