10 Things Reader’s Might be Surprised to Know about Me - Guest Post

1. One of my favorite movies of all time is the Godfather Part I. I watch it every time it’s on and love it so much so that I walked down the aisle to the Godfather Love Song rather than the traditional Bridal March. Also, when my husband and I were introduced as Mr.  & Mrs. for the first time, the DJ played the Godfather Trilogy’s theme song. Hey, I’m Italian – it fits.

2. Flame and the Flower by Kathleen E. Woodiwiss was the first true romance novel I ever read. It was one of my grandmother’s favorite romances that she allowed me to borrow. This historical is written in the true bodice ripper fashion and was originally published it 1972.

3. My love of vampires started in middle school when I read my first Y/A paranormal novel but Dark Gold by Christine Feehan was the first adult paranormal romance I ever read and I was hooked.  Goodreads: http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/108385.Dark_Gold

4. I have a terrible habit of starting series on book 3. Dark Gold is the 3^rd installment within the Dark series. I don’t know what it is, but the 3^rd book almost never fails to capture my attention and then I have to go back and read books 1 and 2.

5. My husband and I met when we were 10. We were in the same 5^th grade class and actually “went out” that year. We went to different middle schools and high schools, but reconnected when he joined the military.

6. We have 5 fur babies: Yes, 5! We've got 3 dogs and 2 cats. My husband had the idea to name all of our dogs after guns (eye roll, but whatever makes him happy), and so we have Barrett (our old man), Kimber (our distinguished lady) and Springfield (spring is the perfect description for that energetic guy). Our daughter named out 2 cats: Comancho (feisty but lovable), and Basquet (a little purr machine).

7. It’s an odd observation, but the family tends to marry people that are a foot taller than them. I’m 5’4” and my husband is 6’4”. My mom is 5’6” and my dad is 6’6”. My aunt is 5’3” and my uncle is 6’3” and so on and so on. It’s a little weird…

8. My dream car would be a trophy truck. Yes, I want a rallied out truck. I love off-roading.

9. I wrote my first full length novel when I was 12 – after I met and fell in love with my first vampire hero. That had been the first version of Caressed by Moonlight (Rulers of Darkness #1). I wrote the book by hand and kept it in a 3 ring binder. The thing is falling apart but I still have it.

10. I didn’t intend to make Caressed by Moonlight a part of a series, but after I got to know the characters, I had to share all their stories. I’ve recently released the Rulers of Darkness series, books 1 through 3. There will be a total of 6 minimum.

Update

 Hello Readers,

I hope this message finds you well. Life has certainly been exciting this past year. We've made the big move from California to Virginia. Having sold our home in Cali and purchased a new home in Virginia we are hoping to stay for a while and put down some roots. That being said, being a military family, we go whenever and where over is needed. Thankfully, the hubs has about 5 years until he reaches retirement.

Lady G, our daughter, is growing soooo fast. Singing her ABC's (along with doing karaoke to Whitney Houston) and counting already and she's not even 2! Just blows my mind every day. 

For those of you that have been following me for awhile know my writing partner Miss Kelly, our cocker spaniel. It was with an extremely heavy heart and sadness that we had to say goodbye this August. She'd been in the final stage of heart failure since October 2020. The vet at that time anticipated she'd live another 6 months and she lived almost 2 years! Miss Kelly was our first fur baby and was 13 years old when she passed. We're very happy she made the move with us, and Mr. Barrett is now getting his comeuppance with our new pack member, Kimber - a chocolate lab/pit mix.

Yes, there have been a lot of changes in the past year and the previous 2 years. With things beginning to settle, I am FINALLY finding time to write. And I don't just mean snippets and random sentences here and there. Believe it or not, I finished a whole chapter today! This brings me so much joy. I've had 3 projects in the works and can say I am making real progress. 

What's to come...

Caressed by Dawn (Rulers of Darkness #6) will be Gannon and Silvie's romance. This is a large project since it will wrap everything up, and possibly be the final book within the series. 

The Darkest Light (Eternal Kiss #1) is a new trilogy/series and new world. Well, new-ish. I wrote the first draft of this book back in high school. I'm working on revamping this book and have decided to write at least 3 installments.

Fade to Night (Under Realm Assassins #4) is coming along as well. I've got a few pages of this completed and need to find the time to focus! But isn't that the story of my life?

Project / Works in Progress Update

I've been so busy an caught up in life lately. Thankfully, things should be settling down. I've been writing whenever I can have some exciting new projects on my desk including a at least 2 new series ideas and a few stand-aloans. Wicked Passion is on it's way - I apologize for the wait! - along with Fade to Night. I've also been working on revamping a book I wrote a few years back, The Darkest Light. I was originally planning on releasing it under a different name, but have since changed my mind. As for the next up in the Rulers of Darkness series, I've got some hard decision to make. Will this next installment be the last or should there be a spin off...Or, perhaps I should revisit each couple as their world changes...Jeez!!! What are your thoughts?

All in all, I've got a lot of work ahead of me and will carve out the time to do it.
