I've found a wonderful vampire romance series! The Rulers of Darkness series has lots of depth in both the characters and history. I enjoyed spending a couple days immersed in the world that Amanda J. Greene created. This is the fifth book in the series, but it stands well on its own as the author has added a glossary at the start.
In this installment we feel the pain of both the
hero and heroine. Both are survivors of slavery. Our vampire hero was a
blood slave thousands of years ago and our heroine is currently being
held captive by an enemy faction. For the first part of the book we are
taken on the hunt as Gabriel seeks to free Jordan. Once Jordan is freed
the real falling in love happens. Gabriel has to come to grips with the
knowledge that there is someone for him to love.The main thing that made me love this book was paranormal world building. It was just so real and tangible. The vampire society was mapped out and it all was just so real and deadly. Amanda J. Greene knows how to make vampires believable.
