Review: 
The Darkest Secret is book 7 within the Lords of the Underworld series. Amun, the keeper of secrets, is our leading man. The heroine, Haidee, is a hunter intent on freeing the world of demons. Their romance kicks off a bit rocky. Haidee has been captured and is being held in the Lord's dungeon, since she is the woman who killed their friend long ago. And, after some back and forth, they end up skipping off to Hell together for a mission. It is  during this time, while working together, that they get to know each other and catch feelings.
I'm in love with the series, but this installment fell a little short of the mark. Up until now, Amun hasn't had a large part in the overall arc of the series. He is seldom seen or mentioned in the previous books, which may be why it took a little why to get into his character. Also, from what was previously known and shown of Haidee made me not like her. I mean, should the reader like the woman who killed one of the demon carrying Lords, which sent a few other guys over the edge? Until this books, she was one of the "bad guys". There certainty could have been more character development and the romance (I hate to say) was stale. The relationship between the main characters seemed forced. It did not flow naturally like Ms. Showalter's other books.
Still, this book was a good read and I'm very happy Amun was given a happy ending. The poor demon keeping hottie deserves some love'n.
