My Reading Addition - Interview with Amanda J. Greene

Hello everyone,
Thank you for taking the time to be here today and for your interest in my books. I’m so excited to be part of this blog tour and to share a little behind-the-scenes peek into my writing world!

Is There a Message in Your Novel That You Want Readers to Grasp?

At first glance? These books are meant to entertain—think fast-paced plots, intense chemistry, and supernatural mayhem. But if there’s a deeper message hidden between with the pages, it’s probably this: people (or vampires… or werewolves or witches) aren’t always what they seem. Enemies can become allies, love can grow in the most unexpected places, and sometimes your fiercest rival turns out to be the one who understands you best. So, maybe the takeaway is—don’t be afraid to look twice. You never know who might steal your heart… or try to bite it.

Is there anything you find particularly challenging in your writing?

Finding time! With two little ones under five, three dogs, two cats, and an active-duty military husband (plus a few cross-country moves), writing sometimes feels like trying to wrestle a story out of chaos. I had to step away for a few years, but now I’m back and ready to dive in again. And let’s be real—if the coffee’s not hot and I’m out of espresso shots, things might get dramatic. The actual writing becomes tricky when the characters go quiet—or more often, when my brain is juggling too many tabs at once to listen.

How many books have you written and which is your favorite?

I have two active series: Rulers of Darkness and Under Realm Assassins, both steeped in paranormal and fantasy romance goodness. Choosing a favorite is impossible, but here are a few that really stand out:
From Rulers of Darkness, I’d say Caressed by a Crimson Moon (Hadrian & Eva) and Caressed by the Edge of Darkness (Gabriel & Jordan). I love a dark, moody, tortured heroes—and the strong women who bring them to their knees.
From Under Realm Assassins, it’s Wicked Passion. That one was an adventure to write from start to finish!

If You had the chance to cast your main character from Hollywood today, who would you pick and why?

For James—our vampire-pirate with a brooding streak—I’d go with Tom Ellis (Lucifer). He’s got the height, charm, that wicked smirk, and eyes that make you wonder what secrets he’s hiding.
As for Katya—succubus, healer, and absolute warrior—I’d love to see Gal Gadot bring her to life. She radiates both strength and warmth, and I can absolutely picture her with glowing gold eyes in the middle of battle.

When did you begin writing?

Middle school! I fell in love with books, and soon after, I wrote one of my own. That story eventually became my debut novel, Caressed by Moonlight (Rulers of Darkness #1), which I self-published in 2010. Since then, life has thrown in a few plot twists—kids, military moves, chaos—but I never stopped dreaming up stories. It feels amazing to be writing again and sharing the characters who’ve been living rent-free in my head.

How long did it take to complete your first book?

Well, I technically wrote the first version in middle school (lol), but in 2010, while my husband was deployed to Iraq, I decided to revisit that manuscript. I was in school full-time, working part-time, and still had a surprising amount of downtime. I typed it up, rewrote huge chunks, and somewhere along the way it turned into a series. I hadn’t planned it that way, but the epilogue basically wrote itself—and introduced the next main character. Caressed by Moonlight took about six months to finish, and after that, I averaged about a book a year… until 2020, when life hit pause and chaos took the wheel.

Did you have an author who inspired you to become a writer?

So many! Christine Feehan was my introduction to adult paranormal romance—I actually started with Dark Gold out of order, but it hooked me completely. Then came Sherrilyn Kenyon (who I devoured) and Johanna Lindsey, whose historicals I borrowed from my grandmother’s shelf. Her lush storytelling and unforgettable characters sparked something in me. Eventually, the characters in my own imagination got too loud to ignore—and I haven’t looked back since.

What is your favorite part of the writing process?

That glorious, chaotic moment when a character does something completely unplanned and I sit there thinking, “Well… that escalated quickly.” Or when they say something that makes me laugh or tear up even though I’m technically the one writing it. I do try to outline (I swear I try), but my characters often go off-script—and honestly, I wouldn’t have it any other way.

Describe your latest book in 4 words.

Dark. Steamy. Dangerous. Unforgettable.

Can you share a little bit about your current work or what is in the future for your writing?

Right now, my writing cave is buzzing with danger, desire, and a whole lot of supernatural drama. I recently bundled the first three Under Realm Assassins books into a box set—perfect for anyone who loves fast-paced fantasy romance with ruthless heroes and the women who challenge them.

I’m currently juggling three intense projects:

Fade to Night (Under Realm Assassins #4) – When fledgling vampires start turning New Orleans into a bloodbath, ancient assassin Cassian D’Amore is sent to eliminate the threat. He’s cold, precise, and absolutely lethal… until he meets Raelyn, a human ER nurse who’s as practical as she is fearless. She’s not part of his mission, but she might be his salvation—or his undoing.

The Darkest Light (Eternal Kiss #1) – This series kicks off with a brutal immortal warrior hellbent on revenge. Evyn has lived for bloodshed and vengeance, but when he crosses paths with Adelise—a mortal with eyes like fire and secrets that could destroy them both—everything changes. It’s enemies-to-lovers with savage heat, high stakes, and a hero who might just lose everything for love.

Caressed by Dawn (Rulers of Darkness #6) – Gannon and Silvie have danced around each other for four books—now, they finally get their moment. Their love has always been forbidden, but a sudden shift in power brings long-buried truths to light, including the mystery of how vampires were truly created… and just how deeply the Shaw Witches have influenced everything. As their world teeters on the edge of transformation, Gannon and Silvie must decide if their love can survive—or if this new era will tear them, and everyone they care about, apart. Or maybe… just maybe… it’s the beginning of hope.

Each of these stories has its claws in me, and I can’t wait to see which one drags me across the finish line first.

Their passion is undeniable and unbeknownst to them, their fates are intertwined. Magic and romance will strike on Christmas, changing their lives forever.

Surrender to the Chase

Knowing no other way to escape an arranged marriage, Fraya flees from her pack. Even as Fraya vows to make Ethan’s mission as difficult as possible, she can’t resist the riotous desire he sparks within her.

But Ethan isn’t the only predator that pursues Fraya. A powerful rival pack’s alpha wants to make her his mate. Will Ethan be able to keep Fraya safe and return her to her pack? Or will he surrender to temptation and claim Fraya as his own?

Wicked Passion

James Stonewoll is an Elite Assassin for the Under Realm Syndicate—an expert hunter and merciless killer. As a former pirate, he thrives on danger, the more perilous the mission, the better and he can't resist his newest contract: eliminate a rebel shape-shifting magic thief that stalks the border of the Under Realm kidnapping and murdering innocent Others. But never did the centuries old vampire anticipate playing hero to a mythical temptress with luscious curves, tantalizing lips, and hypnotic eyes.

Captured and held prisoner, Katya Moro was trapped in a seemingly endless loop of unimaginable agony as her magic was slowly being torn from her soul. A gasp away from death, she is rescued by a sinful kiss and awakens in the strong arms of a powerful warrior whose roguish smile, sharp fangs, and intense strength unlock dormant instincts within her, an all-consuming madness that demands complete surrender.

Gazing down at her, James knew he had to kill her. Dark Magic Wielders, like the beautiful female he’d found, were a grave threat to human society and were not permitted to roam the mortal world. But Katya’s smoky voice and sweet kisses stir a fierce hunger inside him. She is unpredictable, uncontrollable and wickedly seductive—his perfect kind of dangerous. To keep her safe, James will protect her from the magic thieves that hunt her and his fellow assassins until he can find a way to return Katya to her home in the Under Realm.

Can Katya’s passion conquer the darkness within his soul?
